Medicare Initiative For Patients with Chronic and Complex Needs (Chronic Disease Management Plan)

Medicare will provide up to 5 rebates per calendar year for children who are referred by their GP under the ‘Patients with Chronic and Complex Needs’ initiative. Children who are referred to Pursuit Speech Pathology under a Chronic Disease Management plan will be eligible to a rebate of $52.90 per session for up to 5 sessions each calendar year. These rebates can be allocated entirely for speech pathology services, or can be shared between a combination of medical and allied health services, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Audiology. To be eligible for this program, a child needs to have complex care needs that require ongoing support from a multidisciplinary team. For more information and to determine if your child is eligible for this rebate, please contact your GP.

Medicare Initiative For Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

This initiative is provided by Medicare to support children who are undergoing assessment, diagnosis and early treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Under this program, a child can be referred by a Developmental Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to access rebates on up to four diagnostic and assessment services, and up to twenty treatment services. These are the total number of rebates offered to any one child under this scheme and are not an annual entitlement. For more information and to determine whether your child is eligible, please contact your child’s consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Although Pursuit Speech Pathology is not currently registered as a preferred provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you are still able to access the services at our clinic under the NDIS if you are willing and/or able to self-manage your NDIS funding. You are encouraged to look at the NDIS checklist to determine whether your child is eligible for services and funding via the NDIS. This checklist can be accessed via the NDIS website at
